Potentiometry for Cyanide Detection Applied to Fisheries Regulation

چکیده
Illegal cyanide fishing is practiced by some fishers to capture agile and otherwise inaccessible reef fishes easily. Economic incentives had prevented discontinuation of the practice despite regulations present. Aside from well-known toxicity cyanide, it a concern whether fish for ornamental purposes or human consumption that being used because environmental damage can cause killing off non-target species. Currently, content determined using an ion-selective electrode (ISE), with distillation as mode extraction tissues. This paper reports modification ASTM Method 500-CN-E, method originally test in wastewater. outlines process determining applicability analysis tissue samples, which no standard was designed specifically matrix mentioned above. Although percent recoveries at 0.05-10 mg/L range spiked distilled water matrices are line American Society Testing Materials (ASTM) results (90-105%), same concentration appreciably lower (~60-80%). For regulatory purposes, serves temporarily acceptable detect cyanide-laden until suitable be validated on international standards. However, accepted method, additional modifications may needed proven inter-laboratory tests recovery consistently low.

15 صفحه اولNO2 Detection Using Microcantilever Based Potentiometry
A highly sensitive and novel sensor platform for gases and volatile chemicals using microcantilever based potentiometry is reported. A resonant cantilever is used to detect the changes in surface work functions of functionalized substrates caused by adsorption of target gas molecules. Surface work function (SWF) changes were measured for different functionalization layers made of transition met...

The pressure on both natural and managed fish stocks to keep pace with worldwide consumption presents a number of critical challenges, including the prevention of population collapse, management of disease, and understanding of the impact that fishing practices may have on life history traits. Addressing such challenges requires the integration of data from long term population monitoring, empi...

For most chemists, potentiometry with ion-selective electrodes (ISEs) primarily means pH measurements with a glass electrode. Those interested in clinical analysis might know that ISEs, routinely used for the determination of blood electrolytes, have a market size comparable to that of glass electrodes. It is even less well known that potentiometry went through a silent revolution during the pa...

In a lot of systems, charge transport is governed by local features rather than being a global property as suggested by extracting a single resistance value. Consequently, techniques that resolve local structure in the electronic potential are crucial for a detailed understanding of electronic transport in realistic devices. Recently, we have introduced a new potentiometry method based on low-e...
